Elizabeth has been an educator since 2002, teaching science and math to students from 6th grade through medical school. Elizabeth currently teaches Algebra II/Trigonometry at Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette, Colorado and teaches college-level math for the Pre-Collegiate Program at the University of Colorado Denver. Elizabeth is passionate about making math accessible and fun for all levels of students by creating engaging, inquiry-based lessons to help students develop a deep understanding of concepts and to help students develop their capacity with the standards of mathematical practice. Elizabeth has worked with the Rocky Mountain Math Teachers’ Circle as a participant and a leader, extending this work to the American Institute of Mathematics as a case study for bringing math circle techniques into daily classroom learning activities. Elizabeth has led math circles for students, led math clubs for students, and taken students into Mathletes competitions. Elizabeth has advised the PARCC Consortium on mathematical items. Elizabeth has also represented mathematical educators at the state and national level through the Colorado and National Education Associations.
