I taught at the American International School of Guangzhou in Guangzhou, China where I was on the pilot team for rolling out standards based grading. I worked with schools in Hong Kong and Indonesia to develop learning goals based on the AERO Standards and then wrote differentiated assessments for each unit. Students could challenge themselves with the grade level work or the advanced work and all of this was reported out by standard on the report card. It was a great way to put the focus on learning and not the overall grade.
