This session introduces the Steps of a Student-Led Math Tutorial. In this process, students are taught to identify a "point of confusion" they are having on a specific Common Core State Math Standard or math concept. In small groups of 5-7 the students will participate in presenting their "point of confusion" while the other students use the tutorial inquiry process to support the presenter by using questioning to help the presenter become independent thinkers and help them master their own learning through the practice of responding to higher-level questions. You'll observe and participate in a math tutorial session with 8th grade students, then have the opportunity to explore the process for yourself. You'll leave with the knowledge and experience to use and implement the process in your own classroom!
