Bringing Life to Area Problems

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

In this session, you'll investigate and solve two real-life area problems you can take back to your students: Gift Wrapping a Present & The Area of Places in (Your) Schools. These problems spark inquiry and investigation, and provide opportunities for discussion and further exploration.
The story for both problems helps create student interest in the mathematics.  The start of each problem occurs in the classroom, so you can give effective feedback as students go through different problem solving techniques to find their answers.  Both problems deepen student learning by taking the explorations well beyond what normally occurs in textbook problems.
