Three Act Math: Putting Students Behind the Camera

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

This session is designed for teachers who are already familiar with the concept of Three Act Math Tasks and Story Projects - and are ready to flip the classroom, putting students in charge of creating their own three act math problems! Allowing the students to become the teacher will help to deepening their learning of the standards - while underscoring the relevance and importance of math in everyday life and problem solving.

This session will discuss the process from start to finish: grouping students, what criteria to give students, how to facilitate the students while they are producing, and how to differentiate for the low and high achieving students. You'll see examples of student work, from several different levels of students. You'll then go through a shortened process of creating your own Three Act Math problem, preparing yourself, first-hand, to see what types of questions students will have while creating,. You'll leave with a “how-to” guide and a rubric for assessment.
